Max Verstappen is one of the biggest names in Formula 1. No team would want to miss the chance of signing the four-time world champion. Though, F1 pundit Peter Windsor reckons that a team like Aston Martin would need to bring a lot more than just money to lure the Dutch driver.
Aston Martin is rumored to have offered Max Verstappen a staggering $1.2 billion contract. The Silverstone-based squad has tried to refute these claims since. On the other hand, Verstappen has not directly addressed such speculation.
Peter Windsor highlighted that the Red Bull star has been in the sport for a decade and is now more mature. Windsor insisted that Max Verstappen is in a privileged position to turn down even a billion dollar offer as he has already earned substantial sums in Formula 1. Rather, the 27-year-old could now simply race for his passion, than to fill in his bank account.
Adrian Newey could entice Max Verstappen to join Aston Martin
Aero genius Adrian Newey joins Aston Martin in March this year after leaving Red Bull. Windsor suggested that if Newey would approach Verstappen and pitch him his plan for the team, the reigning world champion could likely take a bet on the Silverstone-based squad. Verstappen had formed a strong relationship with the 66-year-old over the years.
Certainly, Aston Martin could be a promising team in Formula 1. The massive investment and Honda’s exclusive deal from 2026 might work perfectly with Adrian Newey’s mastery. However, Max Verstappen seems to be in no mood to take such a risk when he is already satisfied at Red Bull Racing.
