According to recent reports, it was revealed that the Red Bull chief designer, Adrian Newey informed the team about his intentions to leave Milton Keynes. Subsequently, speculations went around the paddock where the British designer would head, and Aston Martin seemed the biggest name. However, this move is now off the table as F1 journalist, Peter Windsor has claimed that Newey has rejected the deal.

Adrian Newey is considered to be the greatest F1 car designer. The Englishman has a lot of experience under his belt and has worked with Williams and McLaren in the past, where his designs collected more than a dozen championships. Then, in 2006, he joined Red Bull and has since been the driving force for their impressive aerodynamic excellence.

However, due to recent rifts forming between the team because of the allegations against Christian Horner, Newey felt that the workplace atmosphere was not peaceful anymore. This led him to inform the team about his intentions to leave the outfit and look for options elsewhere.

My understanding is that he’s already been offered a lot of money by Aramco, and Aston. And he has turned it down. That is my understanding of what the Aston situation is. It doesn’t surprise me. He doesn’t need the money. Money isn’t a motivation for him. It’s racing. It’s whether he enjoys it, whether it fits with whatever he wants to do, other things in life. Throw a billion pounds at him now? It won’t make a lot of difference. It might have 10 years ago, or eight years ago. Now? I don’t think so. My understanding is that he’s already rejected that. So I’d be surprised if he goes to Aston.

The move to Aston Martin seemed the most lucrative as it was understood that Lawrence Stroll was dishing out millions of dollars per year for the Brit to join his team in Silverstone. But, despite the lucrative offer, Peter Windsor claimed that Newey had turned down the deal. Also, it is understood that he is not interested in the monetary aspect of the deal but in the future ambitions of an outfit.

Where will Adrian Newey go if Aston Martin is not on the list anymore?

The 65-year-old had earlier admitted that he had regrets about not working with Fernando Alonso in his career. However, when the opportunity was presented, he reportedly rejected it. So, this raises another question, where will Newey eventually go if the English team is no longer on his wishlist?

The 77-year-old had the answer for it and revealed where the Brit would eventually end up.

He’ll think Mercedes or Ferrari ‘which one do I want to go to?' They are two big, political teams. They have won races recently, he knows he could do a good job recently. My gut feeling is that he’d rather go to Ferrari, of those two. He probably has a lot of faith in Fred Vasseur. But it brings with it a lot of drama. Politics, pressure.

Windsor claimed that Newey would choose between Ferrari or Mercedes for his next career move. Furthermore, he claimed that the most likely outcome would be that the latter moves to Maranello as he has faith in Fred Vassuer.

On the other hand, the Austrian giant is adamant that the 65-year-old is here to stay in Milton Keynes. However, the transfer market is quite volatile and any move could not be ruled out due to the unpredictable nature of the world of F1.
