The 2024 Brazilian GP has proved to be a body blow for Lando Norris in his ambitions of securing the driver’s championship. Following his sixth-place finish, he has dropped 62 points behind Max Verstappen in the standings.
Renowned F1 pundit Martin Brundle feels that it now time for Lando Norris to forget about this year’s title. He wants his fellow Brit to stop wasting energy and prepare incredibly well to mount a strong fight for the championship next year.
Brundle via his comments, has left no stone unturned in urging Norris to start preparing for the 2025 F1 season. McLaren has the strongest car on the grid at the moment, and this could again prove to be the case next year. However, Norris will be required to step up his game immensely to take the fight to the lights of Verstappen and Charles Leclerc.
The on-track competition will be ‘extremely close’ in 2025
While Martin Brundle has come up with some words of wisdom for Lando Norris, he has also shed light on his view of how the 2025 season could shape up. Brundle is expecting an extremely close fight between the heavy hitters next year.
The 2024 F1 season has only three races remaining on the calendar. It is almost impossible for Norris to now close the huge gap to Verstappen in the standings. Thus, from McLaren’s perspective, the remaining events could only be about staying ahead of Ferrari in the constructors’ championship.
Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are in fine form and are hot on the heels of Norris and Oscar Piastri. Moreover, the SF-24 has also been on an upward trajectory in terms of performance output. Keeping in view everything that has been discussed, the events from Las Vegas onwards will be an extremely fascinating watch for fans all over the globe.
