Lewis Hamilton has proved himself to be one of the stand-out performers of the first half of the ongoing Formula 1 season. He is the only driver after Red Bull’s Max Verstappen to amass multiple victories.
Keeping in view the mighty run of the seven-time world champion, renowned Formula 1 pundit, James Hinchcliffe, has taken the time to shower praise on him. Lewis Hamilton triumphed in Silverstone and at the Belgian GP before the summer break.
Moreover, he is currently in sixth place in the Driver’s Championship with 150 points to his name.
After two winless seasons (incredibly, the first in his F1 career), Hamilton has secured two victories in the first half of the year, second only to Verstappen in terms of number of wins.James Hinchcliffe via F1.com
He further went on to add the following.
As the team starts to get a grasp on the tricky W15, Hamilton has been rewarded for his years of trying unorthodox setups and guiding the team’s development direction finally has a machine that allows him to remind the world why he’s one of the best to have ever driven in Formula 1.James Hinchcliffe via the same interview
During the initial few races of the ongoing season, Mercedes had trouble getting on top of the W15. However, since Monaco, the team has been on an upward trajectory and Hamilton, especially, has been able to get the most out of the car on most occasions. This is one of the main reasons why he is currently ahead of his teammate George Russell in the standings.
Lewis Hamilton extremely ‘motivated’ to perform for Mercedes
While Hinchcliffe has applauded Hamilton for his 2024 exploits, he has also taken the time to touch upon the latter’s motivation this year. Ahead of the campaign, several people wondered whether the Brit would be motivated to perform for Mercedes, given he is moving to Ferrari next year.
The seven-time champion came into this season in unusual circumstances, having already announced his departure to Ferrari at the end of this year. It would almost be understandable if his motivation had waned slightly and he was counting the days until his tenure with Mercedes ended. Almost. But that isn’t the way Hamilton operates and not they way he wants to wrap up the most successful team/driver pairing in the history of Formula 1.James Hinchcliffe via the same interview
Hamilton has been making his trade with Mercedes since the 2013 season of F1. He has enjoyed tremendous success over the years and is thus, determined to finish his final campaign with the team on a mighty high. Only 10 races are remaining on the calendar and it is going to be fascinating to see how the 39-year-old will perform from Zandvoort onwards.
