The Lewis Hamilton-produced F1 film starring Brad Pitt has got the fans buzzing. The movie is set to be released in June and it concluded its filming by last year’s season finale (2024 Abu Dhabi GP). Despite the popularity of the film before its release, F1 reporter Ted Kravitz denied the cameo in the highly anticipated release and further revealed the reasons for the same.
In July, last year, filming for the F1 film began at the Silverstone circuit. F1 decided to back the project and gave special access to footage that had never been seen before. However, paranoia surrounded certain teams as Lewis Hamilton was the producer of the film with close links to Mercedes.
On the other hand, as these issues sorted out, the APXGP outfit ramped up its production and went to the 2024 season finale with the aim of concluding the filming. It opened the option for F1 personalities to possibly make a cameo.
Subsequently, when Ted Kravitz was offered a cameo role in the movie by Brad Pitt, the 50-year-old decided to reject the offer.
And I would just like to say, I think the offer of a cameo role was a sort of joke, because I think he offers everybody a cameo role. And they were wrapping filming that afternoon. I don’t think I really turned it down. I think it was meant in jest. I returned in jest.
Ted Kravitz said on the Sky F1 podcast
Despite all the drama surrounding the film, it is expected to trundle waves worldwide. With Warner Bros and Apple as partners, the movie would become a gateway for new fans to join the sport in all its glory.
Christian Horner backs Brad Pitt’s F1 film
While Red Bull was the team that initially feared being given a villain role, the Austrian team eventually gave in. However, some of the statements made by the outfit may come true as Mercedes has actively helped in the production of the film by developing the APXGP’s car(a modified version of the F2 car). Moreover, with the status quo of the two teams being arch-nemesis, this won’t help the F1 film in any way.

Regardless of such concerns, Red Bull supremo Christian Horner backed the entire project. He reckoned it to be a major step up for the sport in the entertainment scene.
It is another massive step for Formula 1, and I’m sure they’ll do the sport justice in the way that they present it.

Nonetheless, Pitt’s F1 film would have benefitted from the on-track action that took place in 2024. A total of seven drivers bagged in wins, creating a record for the history books. Thus, the 2025 season would begin with high expectations from the fans to build on the precedent that last season was able to set.
