Aston Martin suffered from a poor spell of races in the 2025 season, especially with Lance Stroll. The Canadian was unable to fare well and achieve consistent point finishes. To make matters worse, Stroll crashed out on multiple occasions and cost the team heavily. Now, ex-F1 driver Ralf Schumacher has called out the executives at Silvestone to sack Lawrence Stroll’s son for unacceptable performance.

Lance Stroll made his F1 debut all the way back in 2017 and was amongst the youngest drivers to ever debut in the sport. He achieved his first podium finish in 2020 but has been performing poorly since then, with no podium finishes to his name.

As such, Stroll has received a lot of hate over the years because of his lack of driving abilities and simply hoarding a good F1 seat at Aston Martin. Moreover, the Canadian collided with Franco Colapinto at the Brazil GP and received a lot of hate from the Argentine fans.

Now, Ralf Schumacher spoke candidly about Lance Stroll’s underwhelming performances in the 2025 season. Schumacher reckoned that Stroll’s performances were no longer acceptable. Rather than Stroll, the F2 champion Leonardo Fornaroli deserved to be in the Aston Martin car much more than Lawrence Stroll’s son.

Lance Stroll has continued to be consistently outscored by his teammate Fernando Alonso. To make matters worse, Aston Martin’s performance isn’t improving either, and is causing further hate towards Stroll and his capabilities to perform well in the sport.

His contract remains unknown as he just renews it every year with no end date, seemingly because of Lawrence Stroll’s involvement in the matter, who is providing a golden opportunity to his son, which he sadly isn’t utilizing to the maximum.

Strictly speaking, that’s no longer acceptable. Honestly, when I see how well the Formula 2 winner [Fornaroli] has done, he deserves to be in a car like that a thousand times more.

Ralf Schumacher claims Lawrence Stroll ‘shouldn’t be in F1’

Lawrence Stroll has also continued to face hostility and hatred over the years in Formula 1, for multiple reasons. First and foremost, keeping Lance Stroll in the sport without any good performances has landed the father in hot water oftentimes. Moreover, Stroll Sr. has said some controversial things in the past, which caused him to remain one of the more polarizing figures in the community.

Now, Ralf Schumacher even fired some shots at the multi-billion-dollar Aston Martin owner, who isn’t doing much for the sport either. Schumacher insisted that he was curious to see what happened in this matter, as even Lawrence Stroll couldn’t turn a blind eye towards Lance Stroll’s poor spell. Because of these actions, the German believed that the father-son duo did not deserve to be in F1 at all.

But I’m also curious to see what happens there, because, to be honest, even Lawrence Stroll […] can’t turn a blind eye to this issue. In my opinion, he’s also a candidate who shouldn’t really be in Formula 1 anymore. Definitely.

Ralf Schumacher noted

Though the recent years have been difficult for Aston Martin, they still had a record-breaking performance in the 2023 season. The team grabbed multiple podium finishes, and Fernando Alonso finished P4 back then.

Even Lance Stroll performed decently that year and could finish in the top 10 in the driver’s standings. Regardless, Stroll needs a miraculous turnaround in performance if he wants to achieve public support over his F1 career.
