The entire Singapore GP saw an extremely weird and awkward end to the Max Verstappen swearing saga. FIA had banned the use of swear words just ahead of the Marina Bay weekend. Amidst this, Verstappen was caught dropping the F-bomb and was subjected to community service as a penalty. Ralf Schumacher reckoned that Mohammed Ben Sulayem needs to be fired over such petty disputes.

The 2024 season has put forth some trying times for FIA and the officials. The entire Susie Wolff ‘conflict of interest’ saga in the initial stages of the season turned out to be disastrous for FIA. Subsequently, the Christian Horner sexual assault investigation saga was another hurdle for the stewards. However, the ban on swear words and the harsh penalty on Max Verstappen saw further backlash to Mohammed Ben Sulayem.

Hence, amidst the ongoing Verstappen fiasco, Ralf Schumacher suggested a bizarre solution to fix this. Schumacher recalled the Susie Wolff fiasco in the early days and how it panned out. Subsequently, the German pointed out the scandal with Liberty Media. As a result, amidst such issues, Ben Sulayem had to be replaced with someone else as the current president wasn’t up to the mark.

First he gets into trouble with Susie Wolff, then the huge scandal with Liberty Media that almost cost him his job. I would recommend that the FIA think about something new (new FIA president).

Ralf Schumacher labeled Mohammed Ben Sulayem a ‘disaster’

Max Verstappen and the rest of the paddock had a good laugh over the ‘community service’ penalty to the former. Hence, Ralf Schumacher believed a warning was enough in this case. Additionally, the 49-year-old wasn’t mincing his words when he claimed that Mohammed Ben Sulayem was a ‘disaster’ in handling the case.

A warning would have been enough. The tragic role played by FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem is a disaster.

The FIA had provided clearance over the matter and didn’t delve much deeper into the Verstappen swearing saga following the backlash. Sulayem would have to look into the case and ensure such issues don’t arise again. The entire F1 community would be ready to pounce on any opportunity to berate the wrongings of the officials.
