Lewis Hamilton has suffered from an extremely woeful debut season with Ferrari. The Briton has been unable to achieve even a podium finish, let alone a race win, in the first 16 races so far. To make matters worse, Hamilton seems extremely demotivated during races and isn’t able to get out of the performance slump. Now, ex-F1 driver Ralf Schumacher has fired shots at the seven-time champion and his antics at the Scuderia.

Lewis Hamilton had talked about having some positive feelings after coming back from an emotional summer break. However, a hardcore penalty for the Italian GP ruined Hamilton’s chances to shine in front of the Tifosi, and a P6 finish was nothing to boast about. While the Briton has been accepting and self-deprecating about his struggles at the Italian constructor, Ralf Schumacher believes that he must change this aspect of himself.

Ralf Schumacher was not mincing his words while berating Lewis Hamilton and his antics at Ferrari. Despite struggling big time, Schumacher insisted that the Briton needed to remain positive and keep improving his performances. Speaking honestly, the German asserted that Hamilton needed to be a bit more professional and not keep on degrading himself at every race weekend.

I have to be honest, he needs to be a bit more professional.

Ralf Schumacher said on Backstage Boxengasse podcast

Ralf Schumacher continued that with Lewis Hamilton and his incredible experience racing in Formula 1, he shouldn’t be suffering from such silly issues. Schumacher warned the 40-year-old to be careful with his attitude in front of the media, just to keep the fans’ support and love for him alive. The German emphasized that the Tifosi would eventually get annoyed by the seven-time champion speaking lowly of the team and himself on every occasion during race weekends, and must change this habit of his.

With his experience, that really shouldn’t happen to him, and he really has to be careful with things like that so that the fans continue to support him, because that could also annoy the Tifosi.

Ralf Schumacher reveals when Lewis Hamilton is ‘fast’ on track

Despite current results not looking good at all, Lewis Hamilton has shown glimpses of speed on track, especially in terms of overtaking after starting from the back of the grid. Hamilton just needs to find consistency in the Ferrari challenger and return to his winning ways. The Briton has already shifted his priority to the 2026 season and can soon emerge as a winning force by the coming season.

Now, Ralf Schumacher ponders over the moments when Lewis Hamilton is actually fast on track. Schumacher insisted that when everything went right for the 40-year-old, he showcased great speed and promise during races. However, the German recalled Hamilton’s woeful outing at the Dutch GP where he spun out a couple of times and ultimately binned his car into the car ending his race early. Hence, the 50-year-old emphasized that people expected better concentration from someone so experienced.

Nevertheless, when everything goes right for Lewis Hamilton, he’s fast. But, I’d say spinning twice in Zandvoort, then crashing his car into the wall and then that too, well, there was a bit too much going on that weekend, where you’d actually expect a bit more concentration from someone so experienced.

Ralf Schumacher noted

The 2025 season only has eight races left and Lewis Hamilton is way behind the leading pack for the driver’s title. The Briton is not going to have any chances of fighting for the title this year. Though, he can quickly turn it all around after helping in the challenger development process with the Italian constructor. Now, time will tell about how the future pans out for the seven-time champion.
