Daniel Ricciardo the eight-time Grand Prix winner, did not have the smoothest of outings during the first half of the 2024 F1 season. He proved second-best at RB against his younger/less experienced teammate, Yuki Tsunoda.
The sport is currently at a standstill with the ongoing summer break and the RB team principal Laurent Mekies, has taken this time to talk about Daniel Ricciardo. The former feels his team is doing everything to make Ricciardo feel at ease in their 2024 challenger.

The 35-year-old has so far managed to amass only 12 points in the 2024 driver’s championship.
You refer to Canada but there was also Miami before, there were a couple of other races where he has been very strong. Sometimes it was very visible like in Miami or Canada, sometimes a bit less so. So, can he make it? Yes. We are trying to do the best possible job as a team to put him as often as we can in this sort of sweet spot.Laurent Mekies via Racingnews365
The ongoing campaign is 14 races down with 10 remaining on the calendar. The upcoming second half of the season holds immense importance for Ricciardo as he currently, does not have a seat for the 2025 season of the sport.
RB deems Liam Lawson a ‘super talented driver’
While Ricciardo is fighting for his career in F1, his biggest threat for next year is Red Bull junior Liam Lawson. The New Zealander is rated very highly by Helmut Marko and could get a VCARB birth in place of Ricciardo for 2025.

Lawson drove in five races last year when Ricciardo suffered from a hand injury.
We are very conscious he is a super talented young driver. He has demonstrated it quite a few times in his career, notably last year when he had to jump in the car last-second to replace Daniel.Laurent Mekies via the same interview
Red Bull has quite a few things to sort out ahead of the 2025 season. They have two seats to fill for next year as Max Verstappen is secured on the main team, and Tsunoda also has extended his RB deal.
Sergio Perez‘s future is up in the air regarding next year. Considering everything that has been discussed, it is going to be fascinating to see whether Daniel Ricciardo will be able to secure a seat for next year or not.
