Amidst Tsunoda’s rumors of leaving the team, Liam Lawson was considered a prime candidate. The Kiwi’s short but impressive debut had enabled his chance of an F1 seat in 2023. However, RB CEO Peter Bayer reckoned that great talents were coming from F2 and F3 currently. As a result, RB’s current focus lies on beating Aston Martin in the 2024 season rather than driver discussions for the coming season.

We have great talent coming through F2, F3. And currently, it's all about focusing on performance.  Perhaps the focus is more on Aston Martin in front of us than on driver discussions.

Apart from this, speaking of Lawson’s eagerness to hop in the seat of a Formula 1 car was pointed out by Bayer. The Austrian highlighted that it was good to see the youngsters perform well in the pinnacle of motorsport. Additionally, the 53-year-old acknowledged that Liam Lawson was undoubtedly keen to receive a seat in RB for the coming season.

It’s good to see the youngsters performing well, and it’s good to have that competition as well. Liam is undoubtedly keen to get back into a race situation.
Peter Bayer said, as reported by f1i.com.

Liam Lawson showcased a great racing talent during his debut in the 2023 season. The Kiwi has proved his skills, and all that’s left for the teams is to consider him for a position. The 22-year-old is always present during races and hopes for a positive future in F1. However, Lawson might have to wait a bit longer to successfully get a seat at RB.
