After two seasons of dominance, Max Verstappen and Red Bull are no longer the sole team at the front of the grid. Milton Keynes is projected to finish third in the standings this year. Now, Red Bull Engineer Paul Monaghan has shed light on the team’s development challenges for 2025.
Monaghan made it clear that Milton Keynes will be aiming to win both titles next year. The Briton highlighted that that the Austrian giant had a plan for its 2025 car midway through the current season. As the reigning world champions understood of the shortcomings of the RB20.
We want to compete for the championships. It’s not like we didn’t know halfway through the current season what we want to do next year and what we want to achieve with the new car.
Paul Monaghan said, as reported by RacingNews365
However, development for the 2025 car will not be easy. Paul Monaghan pinpointed that the complex challenge ahead of the team is the 2026 rule change. Red Bull cannot focus completely on the 2025 car or else it would lose out massive on the new era of the sport.
It is also the case that next year’s efforts are complicated by the challenges regarding the car for 2026.

Paul Monaghan insists ‘all plans ready’ for Red Bull
Monaghan claimed that the team was aware about the direction it wants to take next year. The 57-year-old reckoned that Red Bull had all its plans ready. The British engineer asserted that Milton Keynes was comparing its progress to the rest of the competition as well. This would indicate if the Austrian team was meeting its objectives for the future.

We know which way we want to go, all the plans are ready. It’s about what we are doing compared to what the competition is doing.
Paul Monaghan stated
The task to manage 2025 and 2026 car developments is not an easy task. Red Bull will gain more wind tunnel time after dropping to third in the standings at the end of this year. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if Max Verstappen gets another dominant car in 2025.
