Red Bull has shown signs of subtle vulnerability despite leading the championship this season. The Milton-Keynes outfit powered through the first ten races in 2024, winning seven of them. They have, however, not been victorious since the Spanish GP in July.
Pierre Wache, the technical director of Red Bull Racing, has since deemed the team’s efforts lackluster for the first half of the season. The team’s RB20 has been far from dominant as compared to their championship-winning RB19 of the previous year.
Wache claimed that the team has been fruitful in achieving desired outcomes in some aspects while being unsuccessful in others. The Milton-Keynes-based team has been fairly uncompetitive around high-speed corners as compared to the likes of McLaren and Mercedes this campaign.
We have undoubtedly improved compared to last year, but we have not delivered what we expected in some areas. One area in particular clearly fell short of expectations: Especially in high-speed corners, we expected a little more than what we have now. Without thinking about the competitiveness of the car, just based on our own references, we predicted a little more with our tools.Pierre Wache via Motorsport-total
Red Bull will now regroup and work on their issues to develop a pertinent cure for their selective miseries this season. The remaining races will be a stern test for them as they eye a fourth consecutive title by the end of 2024.
Ex-F1 driver praises Yuki Tsunoda for better run compared to Daniel Ricciardo
Former British racer Jonny Herbert has praised Visa Cash App RB driver Yuki Tsunoda for his ever-improving run this season. Tsunoda has scored 22 points for RB, while his teammate Daniel Ricciardo has managed only 12 this campaign.
Has Daniel earned a place at Red Bull? I don’t think so, at least not yet. He has not been strong enough against Yuki Tsunoda. Yuki is the one I would give a go to - his racing has improved.Johnny Herbert via TopOffShoreSportsBooks
Herbert harshly critiqued Daniel Ricciardo and deemed him unworthy of racing for the Milton-Keynes outfit. The 60-year-old instead backed Yuki Tsunoda as a worthy candidate for promotion to the main team from RB.
Tsunoda signed a multi-year deal with RB earlier this season, committing his future to the Red Bull family. He will now continue to selflessly deliver for the team, with hopes of earning a seat with Red Bull in the coming years.
