Max Verstappen and Red Bull were believed to be the favorites heading into the 2024 season. Many reckoned that the Dutch driver would have an easy campaign to his fourth title in a row. However, things seem to be on the decline for the reigning world champions after the Hungarian GP.

Verstappen has faced stiff competition from McLaren for the past few races. Moreover, Mercedes’ two back-to-back victories put even more pressure on Red Bull. Unfortunately, the Hungarian GP seemed to have made matters worse and escalated tensions between Max Verstappen and the Milton Keynes-based team.

Verstappen failed to match McLaren for the race win this weekend. Further, the reigning world champion collided with Lewis Hamilton, sparking controversy. Perhaps, this signals the frustrations of the Dutch driver as Red Bull fails to get back to its dominant form from earlier this year.

The 2024 season now has had seven different race winners, something which might’ve been unimaginable last year. Max Verstappen is the only driver to win multiple races so far this season. However, Red Bull seems to be stagnating in terms of performance gains in recent rounds, giving ample space for rivals.

Max Verstappen never hides his true feelings from the media. The Dutch driver made it clear that Red Bull is too slow at the moment. Considering Red Bull’s heavy dependence on Verstappen as its star driver, the Austrian team needs to make performance gains as soon as possible. As a team like Mercedes would be extremely interested on getting its hands on the three-time world champion.

Certainly, it will be interesting to see how things pan out between Verstappen and Red Bull. It is likely that the Austrian team will accept the blame in a bid to ease tensions with the Dutch driver. As such, fans would be hoping to see Max Verstappen bounce back in the upcoming races.
