Formula One presenter, Ruth Buscombe has praised Lewis Hamilton for his mighty performance at Silverstone to win the British GP. The seven-time world champion won the event for a record ninth time in his career, making him the most decorated British driver ever.

Lewis Hamilton started the 2024 season on a poor note after failing to win or finish at the podium for the first nine races. But the 39-year-old has rightfully picked up his pace after the Monaco GP, amassing 67 points in the last four races.

Hamilton has been applauded by many after his win at Silverstone, with Buscombe, claiming that Hamilton was at his phenomenal best this past Sunday. Buscombe also said that the W15 would have struggled against the fiery pace of Red Bull and McLaren if it wasn’t for the brilliance of the seven-time world champion, who put the challenger through the absolute wringer.

Phenomenal drive by Lewis, he drove the socks off that thing, and that Red Bull was really fast in dry conditions right at the end of the race.

Buscombe via her precise remarks, asserted that Lewis Hamilton was absolutely spot-on with all his decisions at the British GP. The win at Silverstone offers a huge boost to the Mercedes team, which will be looking to notch up more victories in the upcoming races.

George Russell feels Mercedes will ‘often’ fight for wins after Silverstone

It's incredible. Lewis [took the] win, but we had the car, in normal dry circumstances to be one-two. We're clearly back and I think we'll be fighting for race wins more often now. Obviously, [the DNF] is a real blow, retiring from any race, never mind your home Grand Prix when you have the car to win, but we'll have another go.

The 26-year-old emerged victorious at Spielberg for the very first time since 2022 and has been in fine form for the silver arrows this season. Russell has been on pole twice and was keen on doubling his tally at Silverstone only to be thwarted by a water supply issue, which caused an unfortunate DNF.

Russell has thereafter vested his confidence in the team, crediting the success to the work of the crew. Keeping in view everything that has been discussed, the upcoming events will be a fascinating watch, seeing Mercedes’ performance against rival outfits.
