Sebastian Vettel remained a highly influential and lovable figure in Formula 1 despite his exit from racing at the end of the 2022 season. Vettel has remained an active voice for massive global issues and pushes for changes in the pinnacle of motorsport.

Now, amid ongoing interpersonal issues at Red Bull, the four-time champion was rumored to make a return, perhaps in a leadership role. However, the German has now talked about his dream F1 return and the conditions that would need to be met if he were to return.

Red Bull is currently undergoing a massive change in leadership, with key figures also leaving the team and finding positions in other teams. Amid the rumors of Christian Horner being fired from Milton Keynes, Sebastian Vettel was rumored to be considering a move to the team that gave him four title wins. Even the team’s ace, Max Verstappen, supported the notion and wanted Vettel to return.

However, Laurent Mekies filled Horner’s empty seat, thus ending Sebastian Vettel’s dream F1 return. Now, Vettel insisted that he was fairly happy where he was in his life at the moment. The German recalled that initially, he wasn’t sure if he should keep watching F1 races or not. However, he still watched every event as he simply loved the sport and missed all the drivers and was close to them in a way.

I think for me, I’m fairly happy where I am in life right now, I love Formula 1. In the beginning, I thought I’m not sure whether I want to keep watching because I need to get a distance and so on, but I watch the races and I follow and I love it because I just love the sport. I know the guys as well, so I’m still close in that way.

Sebastian Vettel said via Sky Sports.

Further, when questioned about his F1 return, Sebastian Vettel raised some uncertainty. He reckoned that if the right opportunity and position turned up, he could consider a return. Vettel pointed out that there was surely some role that he would love to step up to and fill. Ultimately, the four-time champion made a ‘time will tell’ remark on the timing of his return to the pinnacle of motorsport.

I don’t know, if the right opportunity, position, perspective, whatever, turns up or could turn up, maybe there’s a role that I could be happy to step up to, but time will tell.

Sebastian Vettel confirms ‘failed’ Red Bull return talks

Sebastian Vettel returning to Red Bull would certainly be one of the greatest return stories in Formula 1. The German was an extremely successful force at the Austrian constructor, and his return would definitely create some great moments for the team as a whole. Now, Vettel asserted that the rumors of him being in talks to return to Milton Keynes were indeed true, and he had some conversations on the matter.

Sebastian Vettel claimed that he was unaware whether he would be a part of the team’s future. He reckoned that he had read a lot about it online as well. Moreover, Vettel revealed that he had talked with Helmut Marko about the move for a little bit. However, the talks never got anywhere and gained any traction that could help seal his return to Milton Keynes.

I don’t know. I read as well, there was a lot of talk about it and so on. And I did speak with Helmut a little bit, but it never got anywhere, never gained any traction.

Sebastian Vettel noted.

Certainly, it would be one of the better comeback stories if Sebastian Vettel actually does return to Red Bull. He is still the loved figure he once was back in the day. Hence, his return would definitely mean some great things for the Austrian constructor as a whole. For now, Laurent Mekies is doing just fine and leading the campaign with some great success already.
