The Mexican GP was a tough blow for Sergio Perez, who had hoped for a better performance. The Red Bull driver has struggled recently, raising concerns about his future with Red Bull.
Perez had promised to improve at the AHR circuit but ultimately fell short, finishing P17 at his home race. However, he is still confident to race in Mexico next year, that too with Red Bull despite an uncertain future at the Milton Keynes-based team.
Sergio Perez encountered a series of problems throughout the Mexican weekend. His main issue was with braking, particularly on the straights. He found it difficult to stop the car, often locking up the brakes.
Because of this, Perez was unable to set a competitive lap in Q1 resulting in early elimination. The Austrian team acknowledged the problems hindering his performance but was unable to resolve it before the race on Sunday.
Perez’s poor performance at the Mexican GP has raised questions about his future with Red Bull Racing. Team principal Christian Horner has hinted that the team may consider changes to their driver lineup for the 2025 season, putting Checo’s position at risk.
Despite this, the Mexican driver remained determined. He stated that he’s not done fighting and plans to return next year with Red Bull, aiming to win at his home race.

The 34-year-old felt unconcerned about losing his job despite a disappointing run. His inability to score points caused the team to drop from their earlier top position to second and now third in the constructors’.
Perez’s performances have fluctuated, leaving the team struggling to score points and putting the burden on Max Verstappen. Team principal Christian Horner has hinted that a switch could occur before the season ends.
