Sergio Perez‘s F1 career looms in uncertainty once again. Despite having a contract that extends to 2025, the Mexican driver faces the risk of being sacked after the Abu Dhabi GP. Nevertheless, Checo remains determined on having a positive outing at the final race of the season.

Perez was forced to retire from the race in Qatar. This was a big blow to Red Bull’s fight for second place in the standings. Sergio Perez admitted that the team was frustrated as it lost out on what could have been a possible result.

Everything was going so well in Qatar and the podium was in our sights. It’s frustrating for everyone that we couldn’t convert that positive position in the race into something more.

The Mexican driver made it clear that he aims to bounce back this weekend in Abu Dhabi. Sergio Perez pointed out that his 2024 campaign has been a rollercoaster. Yet, Checo will be giving everything to get a solid result amidst rumors of being sacked following this weekend.

The aim in Abu Dhabi will be to make up for that disappointment. It has been a very up and down season for me and I will be giving everything I have to end it on a high.

Sergio Perez insists he has improved ‘week on week’

Perez has failed to come even close to teammate Max Verstappen over the course of this season. The Mexican driver is the only one in the top 8 to not win a race. However, Sergio Perez claimed that he has made improvements week over week. He reckoned that now it was just time to put everything together for a positive result in Yas Marina.

We have been seeing improvements week on week recently and the pace has been there, now we need to put it together.

The Abu Dhabi GP might be a do or die situation for Sergio Perez. The 34-year-old has to push himself to the limit if he wants to stay in F1 next season. Though, considering Perez’s lack of consistency this year, even a good finish might be too little too late.
