The 2024 Monaco GP weekend is well underway with Friday’s practice sessions done and dusted. Ferrari has come out as the early pace setters around the 3.3 km track and seeing their might, Red Bulls’ Sergio Perez has admitted that they are a bit out of reach of rival teams.

The Milton-Keynes-based Red Bull F1 team had a challenging time during Monaco’s FP1 and FP2 sessions. Both the RB20s were struggling with quite a few issues and Max Verstappen even said he was jumping like a kangaroo over the team radio.

None of the Red Bulls were in the top three at the end of Friday’s running.

Ferrari at the moment are just not reachable, I think they're really strong and whenever they need the lap, they just seem to put it on really easy, really quick.
Sergio Perez said in an interview with Motorsport

Max Verstappen’s fastest time in FP2 was 1:11:813 which was only good enough for fourth place, whereas Sergio Perez, on the other hand, was able to muster up a time of 1:12:099 which proved enough for the eighth position.

Ferrari is not ‘struggling with tires’ in Monaco

While Perez has given a damning verdict on the chances of Red Bull around the Monaco Street Circuit, one of the reasons behind it is the struggle his team has had with its tires. Perez and Verstappen have not been able to put in hot laps whenever they have wanted to.

However, things have been quite the opposite, especially with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.

It's something that is quite a benefit around this place, to be able to put the lap in quick and whenever you need it to, and don't struggle so much with tyres and that sort of thing.
Sergio Perez said in the same interview

Ferrari’s Monegasque driver was the out-and-out star of Friday’s running at the Monaco GP. The SF-24 is working really well around the street circuit and considering this, Red Bull has got its work cut out for them ahead of today’s crucial qualifying session.
