Red Bull Racing driver, Sergio Perez failed to finish on the front row yet again during the Austrian Grand Prix after a poor performance in Spielberg. Perez now finds himself fifth in the championship with only 117 points after 11 races this campaign.
Sergio Perez is currently on the ropes after a set of mediocre outings by the 34-year-old, despite a convincing start to the season. The Mexican driver scored four podiums in the opening five races but has been an absent figure on the front row ever since.
Perez endured sizeable damage to one of the side pods of his RB20 after an opening lap clash at the Red Bull Ring with McLaren’s Oscar Piastri which inflicted major performance hindrances. The Red Bull driver therefore finished the race P7, managing to improve on his starting position by only a single place.
Nothing we could do about the damage we suffered from the start. We lost and struggled throughout the race… We fought until the end trying to salvage something. We’re going all out in the next race.Sergio Perez posted via Instagram
Sergio Perez has hence pondered upon his chances if damage was not to take place in the opening stages of the race in Spielberg. Regardless, Perez has vouched to give everything in the upcoming race of Silverstone in an attempt to make a much-desired return to the top spots.
Max Verstappen reflects upon sudden issues with the RB20 during Austrian GP
While Perez finished seventh, Max Verstappen managed a fifth-place finish in Austria after leading the majority of the race. Verstappen has since opened up about an unexplainable issue with the RB20 that occurred during the 71-lap event on Sunday.

Max Verstappen reportedly started facing issues after his final pitstop during the race, in which the 26-year-old claimed that the car was undrivable within a span of a few minutes. Verstappen won the sprint after starting in pole position and also scored the pole in the main qualifying as well, indicating no issues with the RB20 in those sessions.
Keeping in view everything that has been discussed, Verstappen will now approach the upcoming weekend in Silverstone in an attempt to bounce back to winning ways. It has been quite a few races since the six-time Grand Prix winner has been seen tussling at the extreme front end of the grid.
