Sergio Perez‘s abysmal performance in the 2024 season was visible at his home race of the Mexican GP as well. The Mexican driver finished dead last at the 17th position after a torrid time in front of his home crowd. Moreover, Perez clashed heads with Liam Lawson on track multiple times as the former took a dig at the latter’s antics on track.
Sergio Perez was not mincing words while ill-talking Liam Lawson for battling out hard on the track. Even Lawson was agitated as he gave the ‘middle finger’ to Perez while passing him at the Mexican GP. The Mexican driver declared that he had no relationship with the Kiwi and further took a dig at him. The 34-year-old claimed that Lawson didn’t have the right attitude with the way he entered Formula 1.
I don’t have any relationship with him. I think the way he has come to Formula 1, I don’t think he has the right attitude for it.

Liam Lawson had also clashed heads with Fernando Alonso at the US GP and had an exchange of heated words. Hence, Sergio Perez believed that Lawson needed to be more humble during his outings on track this season. Perez recalled the incident with Alonso and highlighted how the Kiwi completely ignored what the two-time world champion was saying.
He needs to be a bit more humble. When a two-time world champion was saying things last weekend, he completely ignored him.

Sergio Perez claims Liam Lawson ‘might not continue’ in Formula 1 amidst such behavior
Liam Lawson has been granted the seat at RB as a temporary replacement to Daniel Ricciardo this season. Speaking about Lawson’s attitude, Sergio Perez noted that he was a great driver and needed to take a step back and learn from his actions. If the Kiwi failed to learn from his mistakes then he was highly likely to not be able to continue racing in the pinnacle of motorsports.
I think he’s a great driver and I hope for him that he can step back and learn from it. If you don’t learn from your mistakes, Formula 1 is a brutal world and he might not continue.
Sergio Perez noted

Perez’s woeful performances might also see the driver ousted ahead of the coming season. If the Mexican were to be sacked, Lawson would be the prime candidate for the seat at Red Bull. Hence, the 22-year-old will have to put his head in the game and continue to outscore the 34-year-old to seal his seat at Milton Keynes.
