Sergio Perez claims he “loves” being Max Verstappen’s teammate

During the Canadian GP, Red Bull Racing announced two-year contract extension for Sergio Perez. The Mexican driver recently revealed that how Max Verstappen motivated him to grow and pushed him to be a better driver.

Sergio Perez in a interview explained, the enjoyment of working with such a dedicated team of engineers and mechanics. Everyone in his team puts a lot of effort and gives their best. This is a great thing to see how dedicated they are to work as it motivates Perez too.

Perez mentioned, this challenge motivates him to continue because it pushes them to constantly learn and develop. This tough competition and the need to improve keep Checo excited and engaged in his work. This could’ve been the reason for Perez’s willingness to continue at Red Bull.

But love having that challenge of being Max's teammate. That has made me want to keep going, precisely because it is such a challenge. It makes you keep learning and keep growing.

Sergio Perez expressed, a strong confidence on RB20’s performance and what they can achieve with it on the track. However, the Mexican driver recognized the importance of converting this confidence into strong performance in Barcelona. The Spanish GP holds a special place for the 34-year-old, it feels like a home race for Perez. The fans in Barcelona always welcome everyone with warm gesture in their country.

I am confident in the car and the performance we can execute from it, but I need to show that on track better in Barcelona. I always enjoy the Spanish GP, it feels a lot like home and everyone makes me feel so welcome.

Perez admitted, he is very familiar with Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, which gives him added comfort going into the race. Perez reckoned, the RB20 is expected to perform well in this kind of track. It is crucial for team Red Bull to execute the strategy flawlessly and capitalize on some points. Red Bull’s aim is to deliver the result they are fully capable of achieving.

It’s a circuit I know very well and the RB20 should be quick around this type of track, so it’s down to us to get things right and bring home the result we know we are capable of.
