Red Bull has had a tough few races in the past couple of months. The reigning world champions have fallen behind McLaren in terms of pace with RB20 becoming difficult to drive for Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. Now, Perez has claimed that Verstappen seems to be better equipped to adapt to the car’s behavior.
Sergio Perez highlighted that Max Verstappen was better at coping with the RB20’s recent issues due to his driving style. This could be the reason for Verstappen outperforming Checo by a large extent so far this season.
Max can cope with the problem a little bit better with his style than I can.Sergio Perez said, as reported by GPBlog
However, Perez remained optimistic regarding his prospects in the coming weeks. The Mexican driver reckoned that once the team solves the issues, he might even benefit more than Max Verstappen. Sergio Perez asserted that correlational problems might be the root cause behind Red Bull’s winless run in the past five races.
Ultimately, once we are able to solve it, it's going to benefit both drivers a lot. It might benefit me even more. On my side, I think we had the correlation issue for a while.Sergio Perez stated
Sergio Perez reveals Red Bull’s ‘main problem’ for second half of 2024
Red Bull has lost ground to McLaren and Mercedes in the past few weeks. Sergio Perez admitted that the team took a wrong approach to its car development, which has been the main cause of its struggles. However, the Mexican driver emphasized that Milton Keynes needs to understand where it went wrong. This would allow the team to get back on track and improve the car once again.

The main problem is that we probably took a wrong direction somewhere that we have to understand it, and from then on, just try and bring the performance of the car in the right path.Sergio Perez explained
Certainly, Sergio Perez accepts the fact that Red Bull is on the backfoot in its fight for the 2024 title. Time might be running out for the reigning world champions with only nine races to go. As such, Milton Keynes must fix the RB20 as soon as possible to retain both the titles this season.
