The 2024 Hungarian GP was another dramatic weekend for Sergio Perez. The Mexican crashed at Saturday’s Qualifying which disrupted his position on the grid and which made him start 16th. Despite starting so behind, Perez managed to cross the checkered flag in seventh place and admitted the car still has the pace and things are lying in his favor.

Sergio Perez explained that the recent upgrades brought to his RB20 are working in the right direction, as he noticed improvements at the Hungarian GP. Despite this progress, he mentioned that there are still issues with the car’s handling, making it challenging to control. The Mexican stressed the importance of carefully analyzing these upgrades to ensure they continue to enhance the car’s performance. As the changes they brought are working nicely, they haven’t fully resolved the balance problems. Perez hinted that there should be a close attention on these areas. It must be noted that Checo’s teammate Max Verstappen was extremely frustrated with Red Bull’s pace after the race.

We always have to look at them carefully, I think they were in the right direction. I felt some good balance. But still, we are struggling with balance.

Perez felt that finding this balance is crucial for their performance in the upcoming race weekends. While upgrades can help, he thought the main challenge is to make sure the car is stable and easy to handle in all conditions. Hence, Sergio Perez emphasized that they must focus on making the car more balanced and easier to drive.
