Sergio Perez has raced for Red Bull since 2021. The Mexican driver played the ideal role of a second driver to Max Verstappen. However, Checo’s future at Milton Keynes remains uncertain with drivers such as Carlos Sainz becoming free agents for next season. Now, it seems that Perez has decided to make demands to Red Bull regarding his contract extension.

The Mexican driver runs out of contract at the end of this year. Christian Horner had admitted that the Austrian team was considering multiple options. Previously it was reported that Red Bull laughed off Sergio Perez’s initial demands. Now, as per reports, Milton Keynes was willing to offer Checo a one-year extension.

The team already has the contract, it is for one year. They offered it to Checo (Perez) and he said, ‘Mmm, we have to review it.

However, it is believed that Sergio Perez was not willing to sign just another single year contract. Perez’s lawyers reported submitted a counter proposal of a two year deal. However Red Bull declined this offer immediately.

Christian Horner claims Sergio Perez an ‘easy person to deal with’ for Red Bull

Red Bull has shown faith in Sergio Perez this season. The Mexican driver has delivered some impressive second-place results so far. Although, Checo has failed to win a race. Nevertheless, Christian Horner affirmed that Milton Keynes was aware of all it’s options to partner Max Verstappen next season.

The entire driver market is developing and we know exactly where we are and what our options are.

Moreover, Horner stated that Red Bull will make it’s decision when the time was right. The Red Bull team boss claimed that Perez had always been an easy person to deal with. As such, the Mexican driver shouldn’t be a problem in terms of negotiations. Although, the Briton has not commented on rumors of the aforementioned disagreement.

At the right time for us, we will make future decisions. 'Checo' always is an easy person to deal with, So I wouldn't expect that to be a problem.
Christian Horner asserted

Certainly, Sergio Perez would be looking to continue at Milton Keynes for the foreseeable future. The Mexican driver would ultimately need to accept Red Bull’s demands if the negotiations come to a halt. As such, it would be interesting to see if and when the two parties agree on a new contract.
