Sergio Perez backs Williams star Franco Colapinto to get a seat for 2026
Argentine racer Franco Colapinto stepped in midseason for Logan Sargeant after Williams decided to drop the American driver. In his F1 debut, the 21-year-old impressed, especially in the three races following the Dutch GP. He scored points in Baku and showed strong performances as a rookie.
Rumors suggest he could stay with Williams in some capacity next year and move to Audi in 2026. Sergio Perez praised the 21-year-old’s remarkable performances, highlighting his skill and potential. Checo expressed hope that Colapinto secures a seat, emphasizing it would be a shame if such talent goes unrecognized in Formula 1.
Formula 1 is an unpredictable sport where a driver can lose their seat at any moment. However, young talents today can learn quickly and adapt to the demands of the sport. Colapinto has easily outperformed Sargeant, and there are high expectations for him in the final six races of the 2024 season. His recent performances have shown his potential, and many believe he can make a significant impact in the coming races.
