I am happy to be coming to Canada knowing I am staying with Oracle Red Bull Racing. It feels incredible to be trusted by the Team to continue with them until 2026 and I am grateful for the confidence everyone has put in me
Sergio Perez said ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix

Perez has had a decent start to this campaign after scoring four podiums in eight races but has endured a dip in his performance since the past two races at Imola and Monaco. The Mexican driver will now look to correct certain things in time for the Canadian Grand Prix as he eyes a win at the event.

Red Bull disadvantaged in title battle because of Sergio Perez

Former world champion, Damon Hill believes that Red Bull is one-legged in the 2024 championship battle due to the contrasting performances between Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. Red Bull has struggled this season to match the pace of Ferrari and McLaren.

The gaps have become smaller and smaller, so points-wise, you can see that it is diminishing. Ferrari and McLaren, don't forget that they have two drivers who can attack. I'm not sure you can say that of Checo, so Red Bull are a little bit one-legged at the moment if they want to defend.
Damon Hill said on the F1 Nation podcast

Damon Hill praised the consistency of Ferrari and McLaren, claiming that both drivers in these teams are capable of attacking and scoring points. Hill went on to undermine Sergio Perez in this context, saying the Mexican driver is not up to par with the attacking ability of his teammate, Max Verstappen.

The Milton-Keynes-based team will face a series of tough races wherein their rivals Ferrari and McLaren will look to close down their pace and prowess. The upcoming weekend in Montreal will test the competence of Red Bull and thus, could spring up a few surprises.
