Sergio Perez‘s woeful performances in the 2024 season continued as he was involved in a colossal penultimate lap crash in Baku. The Mexican driver has caused Red Bull to lose major points over the season which ultimately led to the team relinquishing the Constructors’ lead to McLaren. However, in a shocking turn of events, Perez’s father, Antonio Perez Garibay was reportedly found unconscious following the crash.
The Azerbaijan GP crash between Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz didn’t cause any harm to either of the drivers. However, Perez Garibay felt the tremors of the crash and suffered from a pre-heart attack. Although there has been no confirmation from either of the parties involved, a Mexican publication has revealed the situation.
According to Medio Tiempo, Garibay is currently out of danger and remains under observation after the incident. The Mexican claimed that the ‘shock’ from Perez’s crash might have caused the severe chest pain. Additionally, the medical crew was rushing to look into the reasons for the sudden change in shift Garibay’s health.

Sergio Perez claims ‘still a lot of work’ pending to improve Red Bull’s performance in the 2024 season
Sergio Perez finally performed at par if not better than Max Verstappen at the Azerbaijan GP before the DNF from the crash. As a result, Perez showcased some optimism over his chances of improving in the pecking order. The Mexican noted that there was still a lot of work pending after witnessing Verstappen’s struggles. Hence, the team needed to improve further at this rate to regain the championship lead.
