Even before the commencement of the 2024 season, Lewis Hamilton had decided to move to Ferrari for next year. This move was studded with rumors of the Brit wanting to win his elusive eighth world title with the prancing horses and bring back the championship glory to Maranello. However, ex-F1 driver, Thierry Bousten, has blatantly discarded such rumors.

Lewis Hamilton‘s move to Ferrari is considered to be the biggest ever in the history of driver transfers. Moreover, speculations were on a high when the seven-time champion announced his move to Maranello and indicated his desire to bring back the Italian powerhouse to its former glory. However, his start to the 2024 campaign has been mediocre at best, raising questions regarding his dwindling racing career.

Subsequently, Thierry Bousten has stated that he cannot imagine Hamilton being the sole reason for the Scuderia returning to the top.

I think a driver cannot bring a team to the top. This is no longer the case – it was possible in the 1970s. And the ’80s. Maybe a little bit in the ’90s but, since then, it’s no longer possible... But, to be the driver to bring Ferrari to this level, I don’t see that. If the Ferrari goes back to that level, it’s because they make a car that is capable of winning and, joining Ferrari at the end of this year, how much time will he have to build the team around him to build the car?
Thierry Bousten said in an interview with PlanetF1

The 66-year-old elaborated on his views and described how such a phenomenon was possible back in the old days. However, this is not the case anymore and a team’s persistence at the top is now entirely due to the work of the highly skilled engineers. The statements by Bousten have played down Hamilton’s chances at the Italian outfit but time will tell how the partnership will play out.

Thierry Boutsen claims Ferrari will ‘revitalize’ Lewis Hamilton

The Belgian may be in disagreement over Hamilton’s influence in his new team. However, he is convinced that his move to the prancing horses would reignite his spark in the F1 landscape.

The former driver is sure about the change that Ferrari will bring in Hamilton’s attitude toward racing.

Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. It’ll be very interesting to see how he revitalises himself and comes back into a winning spirit.
Thierry Boutsen

Boutsen is convinced that the Englishman’s move to the red powerhouse would bring much-needed motivation to him. However, there is still a long way before the 39-year-old joins the Italian outfit. Keeping everything in view, Ferrari will keep a close eye on Lewis Hamilton’s exploits behind the wheel of the Mercedes W15 this year.
