McLaren has continued to face some backlash over their questionable decisions on Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. During the Singapore GP, Norris touched Piastri’s car and caused the latter to lose his track position.
In the heat of the moment, the Aussie lashed out on the team radio. Moreover, the team imposed some repercussions on the Briton that he would face until the season ended.
Now, ex-F1 driver Timo Glock has delivered a brutal take on the team’s chaotic driver decisions and interference with team orders. Since the beginning of the season, many people have talked about McLaren clearly deciding on a lead driver who would receive help in their championship ambitions. However, Oscar Piastri had recently revealed that it wasn’t possible as both he and Lando Norris were very tight in terms of results and performance.
Following Lando Norris’ daring move against Oscar Piastri at the Singapore GP, the latter did say some questionable things on the radio. The team probably held a meeting and believed Norris to be at fault, as he agreed to face consequences until the end of the season. Now, Timo Glock isn’t too pleased with this situation and criticized McLaren for their decisions.
Timo Glock insisted that he had no idea what Lando Norris’s comments about facing repercussions meant. He noted that the team needed to either clearly state what was bound to happen or not talk about it at all.
Rather, McLaren made secretive comments publicly and did not reveal anything, just talked about making decisions on both drivers. As such, Glock blasted this situation and insisted that it was completely nonsense for Woking to do such things, especially with their drivers.
[I have] no idea what those statements are supposed to mean. In my opinion: either you clearly say what’s going on, or you say nothing at all. If you have these so-called ‘papaya rules’, then keep them to yourself. But this whole ‘Yeah, there was something’ and ‘We did something there’… that’s complete nonsense!

Timo Glock jokingly predicts the ‘repercussions’ Lando Norris will face
Neither Lando Norris nor McLaren revealed what the repercussions were that Lando Norris accepted he would face until the end of the 2025 season. Allegedly, the consequence meant that Oscar Piastri had the say in coming out of the pit box before or after Norris during the Qualifying session, but it isn’t confirmed. Still, Timo Glock jokingly predicted what it could mean for the Briton for the rest of the season.

Timo Glock joked that McLaren likely cut down Lando Norris’ pocket money and would give him less weekly allowance. Glock declared that he had no clue about what the public drama between the teams and the drivers was.
He reckoned that he either keep his mouth shut on the matter or make himself vulnerable, regardless people outside the team were definitely laughing a lot at the matter.
Apparently, they’ve cut Lando’s pocket money, [I have] no clue what this little public drama is all about. Either I keep my mouth shut – or I make myself vulnerable. Everyone else is just laughing.
Timo Glock noted
The 2025 season is nearing completion, as there are just five races left until completion now. Although McLaren has won the constructors’ title, the driver’s title winner is far from over.
Max Verstappen has shockingly returned in the mix for fighting for the title following Red Bull’s sudden resurgence in pace. As such, Woking must ensure no blunders in team orders that could put both drivers at risk of losing against the in-form Verstappen.
