Carlos Sainz has signed a multi-year deal with Williams from the coming season onwards after massive uncertainty. Sainz was considered for multiple teams amidst positive performance in the 2024 season. However, the Grove-based constructor has provided the Spaniard with the best possible prospects. Hence, upon this, F1 pundit Tom Coronel has put forth some serious concerns.

Multiple people have continued to question the reasons for Carlos Sainz‘s shocking move to Williams. The 29-year-old believed that Grove was the ‘right place’ for all his goals in the pinnacle of motorsport. Additionally, Williams’ current degrading pace has made people wonder about Sainz’s shot at championship in the future seasons.

Tom Coronel noted that he was a great admirer of Carlos Sainz and his performances. Regardless, the Dutchman was concerned for Sainz’s fighting chances after he joined a team of the bottom order. Coronel feared that the Spaniard would never have a chance of contending for the world championship ever again.

Carlos Sainz and Max Verstappen had been teammates between 2015 and 2016. The two drivers were extremely close in performance as Sainz gave a tough competition to the Dutchman. Hence, Tom Coronel recalled the season and claimed that the Spaniard was the toughest for Verstappen. Additionally, Coronel claimed that the 29-year-old’s thought was never to win the world championship.

The current priorities for Sainz are to end the season with Ferrari on a high. The 2024 season has put forth some extremely exciting contingencies for the Spaniard. As a result, the coming season with Williams would be uncertain as anything could happen by the regulation changes of the 2026 season.
