Max Verstappen has continued to dominate Formula 1 despite facing stiff challenge from rivals this year. The four-time world champion did face a few controversies in 2024. However, Dutch driver Tom Coronel reckons an angry Verstappen performed even better.
The four-time world champion had a fallout with the FIA over a ban on swearing this season. Moreover, Verstappen felt ‘provoked’ by George Russell at the Qatar GP. Both incidents only got the Red Bull driver more focused on delivering a stronger performance.
Tom Coronel claimed when Max Verstappen felt ‘taunted’ by anyone, he would bring out the best version of himself on-track. Coronel insisted that when the 27-year-old got angry, he could simply annihilate the competition with ease.
Max Verstappen ‘unbelievable’ in wet weather conditions
Additionally, Tom Coronel applauded Verstappen’s incredible performances in the rain. The 52-year-old highlighted that the Red Bull driver knew where to find grip in such conditions. Coronel even labeled the 27-year-old’s drives in wet weather ‘unbelievable.’
Certainly, the four-time world champion is considered by many to be a class apart when it comes to racing in the rain. Max Verstappen’s first show of brilliance was during the 2016 Brazilian GP, when the 27-year-old made incredible progress in the treacherous conditions at Interlagos. Since then, the Red Bull driver has only kept on improving.
