Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has talked of F2 Prema Racing sensation Andrea Kimi Antonelli on many occasions. Wolff is currently on a hunt for a capable driver to fill the seat of Lewis Hamilton for next season.

Andrea Kimi Antonelli has been heavily linked to signing for Mercedes in 2025, among other prospects. Antonelli is currently sixth in the Formula 2 championship with 85 points to his name.

Toto Wolff has flirted with the idea of the Italian’s promotion but has refused to offer him the easy path. Wolff has demanded from Andrea Kimi Antonelli that he should focus on his current F2 championship run in order to improve his chances for next year.

The 52-year-old has bagged eight championships during his consistent spell in Formula One for Mercedes. Wolff has advised the Woking-based team to rely on their experiences and work accordingly, claiming it to be the best solution for their issues.

Regardless of the controversy, McLaren now trails the leader, Red Bull, by only 51 points in the championship standings. The Papayas will be eyeing more wins in the upcoming races to further close down the gap to the Milton-Keynes-based outfit.
