Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has shared his thoughts on the constructors’ championship battle this season. McLaren, Red Bull, and Ferrari occupy the top three positions in the title race heading into the Mexican GP.

Ferrari has looked confident as a team over the past few race weekends. They secured a stunning 1-2 finish at Austin last week despite starting P3 and P4 in the race. Moreover, the Maranello-based team trails McLaren by only 48 points in the championship.

Toto Wolff has therefore backed the Reds to win the constructors’ title ahead of its competitors. Wolff believes that Ferrari must continue to perform as they have in the past two races to win the title this season.

Ferrari are the fastest today. If they continue like this they can win the Constructors’ title. Ferrari is still in the game: if it continues what it has done in the last two races, Ferrari can win the title.

Ferrari topped the lap times at the end of FP2, which will be a confident sign for them heading into today’s qualifying. They will seek to continue their good form in order to start on the front row in the main 71-lap race on Sunday.

Charles Leclerc feels Ferrari is now better equipped to navigate to external criticism

I don’t think we are as influenced by the outside noise around the team, than we were maybe two, three, four years ago. So from that I don’t think that it has any influence, and actually we don’t really realise that inside the team, we are just motivated and happy about the actual situation. We are in a good place, and we are working in the right direction, but we don’t really pay attention to what’s being said outside.

Charles Leclerc has claimed that his team is much more composed in terms of handling the pressure of the sport. The 27-year-old also states that the Maranello-based unit is happier with its current form and performances this year.

Leclerc concluded that his team is working in the right direction this season. Up next awaits an exciting qualifying in Mexico, which will prove to be an extremely fascinating affair for F1 fans across the world.
