Christian Horner has remained in F1 news despite being snubbed by Red Bull last month. The sudden firing of Horner didn’t faze a majority of the paddock. However, his arch-nemesis and, in some sense, great friend, Toto Wolff, wasn’t too happy with the change. The Mercedes boss comes clean on the 51-year-old’s snubbing from Milton Keynes and christens the latter with a hilarious title.

Christian Horner‘s problematic personal issues, especially the alleged sexually transgressive behavior against the female employee at Red Bull. Though he was cleared of any wrongdoing, people still formed a negative opinion against Horner. Regardless of his personal issues, Toto Wolff had a rivalry with the Briton for over a decade, which spiced up even more after Max Verstappen‘s controversial 2021 championship win.

Toto Wolff weighed in on Christian Horner’s shocking snub from Red Bull and what it meant for him. Wolff asserted that in a way he missed Horner and the funny quips between them. The Austrian reminisced that the two had been fighting for over 12 years. Further, the 53-year-old used some colorful words to describe what the Briton had been to the former over the time they worked together.

In a way, I do (miss him). Because him and I, we’ve been fighting for 12 years. He’s been a ****** very often, and I told him that.

Toto Wolff told Channel 4

Regardless of Christian Horner’s questionable side, Toto Wolff pointed out that the former was a very polarizing and controversial person. Even though Horner wasn’t always the troublemaker, he remained the center of attention due to multiple reasons. As such, the F1 grid wouldn’t be the same without the 51-year-old’s personality around the paddock.

But you know, he was a very polarising, controversial person. He was one of the main actors in the cast here.

Toto Wolff feels ‘lonely’ without Christian Horner

Christian Horner had led Red Bull since the 2005 season and truly gave the constructor his everything. He fought with Toto Wolff on multiple occasions, but the two maintained a good relationship despite on-track issues. Now, Wolff is officially the current longest serving team principal of any team with Horner out of Milton Keynes. As such, the 53-year-old agrees having some lonely feelings as a team principal.

Toto Wolff insisted that Red Bull’s results and performance spoke for Christian Horner and his potential in leading an outfit in Formula 1. Wolff emphasized that the 51-year-old being gone from the paddock felt like one of the old dinosaurs being gone from the sport. Hence, with not many old team principals, the Austrian acknowledged that he felt lonely.

The performances and the track record speaks for himself and the team. And in that respect, you know, him not being here, it’s almost, you know, one of the old dinosaurs gone. There’s not many left from us team principals. So it feels a bit lonely.

Toto Wolff noted

Red Bull will have to work under the absence of Christian Horner for the first time in over two decades. While the team hopes for a more divided leadership with Horner gone, he was the one who held the team together on many occasions. Hence, time will tell about how the coming seasons pan out for the Austrian constructor as they hope to recover from the desperate slump in the 2025 season.
