Lewis Hamilton joins Scuderia Ferrari this year. The seven-time world champion moves to Maranello after facing a difficult final stint at Mercedes. Now, Hamilton’s former teammate Valtteri Bottas has reckoned that this switch might be something the 40-year-old needed.
The British driver has struggled in the ground-effect era of Formula 1. Despite a couple of wins last year, Hamilton never really seemed comfortable with the car. Lewis Hamilton even went as far as thinking about quitting the campaign entirely.
Valtteri Bottas asserted that Lewis Hamilton was extremely motivated for the new chapter in his career. The Finn emphasized that Hamilton enters a new and refreshing environment this year, something which can be the much needed trigger for his form. Bottas looked forward to seeing how the 40-year-old fares against Charles Leclerc.
He’s highly motivated for the year. It’s something new and refreshing for him, which can be a good trigger sometimes. But also keen to see how they get on with Charles.

Valtteri Bottas wants Mercedes in fight for F1 title
Bottas returns to Mercedes as a reserve driver this year after leaving the team in 2022. He has been brought back to Brackley to mentor Kimi Antonelli. The Finnish driver hoped that the Silver Arrows will be in contention for the 2025 world championship despite the fierce competition at the front of the grid. Valtteri Bottas asserted that everyone was a target in this battle.

Of course, I hope that Mercedes can be in the fight for the championship which is everyone’s target over here.
Valtteri Bottas stated
Certainly, Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari will pose a tough challenge to Mercedes this year. The Silver Arrows do not seem to be on favorites on paper. However, things can take a turn quickly if Red Bull and McLaren fall behind Brackley in the pecking order when the season commences in Melbourne.
