Max Verstappen silenced critics following his sublime victory at the Azerbaijan GP. The win in Baku marked Verstappen’s fourth victory in the 2025 season, where his chances to win even a single race were slim. The Dutchman continues to score massive points for Red Bull as the second driver, Yuki Tsunoda, faces difficulties in doing so. Now, George Russell makes a hilarious but brutal statement on Milton Keynes being solo-carried by the reigning world champion.
The second driver problem at Red Bull continued despite switching Liam Lawson with Yuki Tsunoda after two races in the 2025 season. Ironically enough, both Lawson and Tsunoda achieved their career best finish with their respective teams at the Azerbaijan GP. Still, Max Verstappen remains the major points scorer after scoring 255 points out of the 272 total for Milton Keynes.
Max Verstappen’s stellar victory at the Azerbaijan GP further increased his share of the points scored for Red Bull. After the culmination of the Baku race, George Russell was talking about still being at threat against Ferrari and Milton Keynes in the final stages of the season. Then, Verstappen tapped Russell’s shoulders, presumably mocking him for talking highly of the Austrian constructor and their points.
George Russell immediately thought of his comments and made a hilarious change to his previous comments. Russell accepted with Max Verstappen and pointed out that Milton Keynes would better be called ‘Team Verstappen’, because of the latter being the sole point scorer for the team. Subsequently, both drivers shared a laugh at the fact and continued with their usual appearance to the media.
George: “I think right now with the current form there’s as much chance of Max finishing ahead of us as there is Ferrari—”

Max Verstappen reveals ‘strange feeling’ with Red Bull in 2025
Max Verstappen’s performances have been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride in the 2025 season. Verstappen has experienced some extremely high moments this year, with others being very difficult. Still, the Dutchman is showing up at every race weekend with a winning mindset and giving it his all to score positive results. Still, the 27-year-old has a ‘strange feeling’ especially amid the team’s apparent resurgence in performance.

Speaking on the RB21 challenger at the Azerbaijan GP, Max Verstappen insisted that the car felt very good the entire weekend in Baku. The Dutchman added that the team did not need to make any radical changes, which was a good sign to begin with. Moreover, Verstappen recalled that the car remained stable since the past two race weekends, which was a ‘strange feeling’ because it hadn’t been so easy going for a lot of the races.
Here in Baku, I felt good all weekend. We didn’t have to make any radical changes, which makes it enjoyable to work. It’s been very stable for two weekends in a row now. That almost feels strange, because it hasn’t been like that for a long time.
Max Verstappen said, as reported by De Telegraaf
After the dominant win in Baku, Max Verstappen has reduced the point deficit to the championship leader Oscar Piastri to 69 points. With seven races to go, Verstappen’s chances to emerge victorious in the driver’s title have definitely improved a lot than before. Now, time will tell if the Dutchman gets a realistic shot at contending for the title or not.
