Lewis Hamilton‘s debut year at Ferrari has been very troublesome. The Briton is unable to fight for podium finishes, let alone race wins. However, the 40-year-old hasn’t faltered and refuses to lose hope in succeeding with the Italian constructor. Now, Hamilton takes a hilarious dig at his chances at the Austrian GP of achieving a podium finish.

Lewis Hamilton has kept up with his positive attitude every race weekend despite Ferrari’s issues not seeming to improve. The Briton is ready to rebuild himself from the ground up and work hard within the Italian outfit. However, Hamilton’s positive mindset hasn’t helped him achieve much in terms of raw results, as he now refuses to think about a podium finish at the Red Bull Ring.

Hamilton’s best result this year is only a sprint race victory in China, and no other highlights. Still, the 40-year-old walked into every weekend and claimed that he hoped for atleast a podium finish in the pecking order. However, after qualifying in the second row, the Briton’s chances of atleast a podium finish are looking possible.

Speaking on his P4 start for the Austrian GP, Lewis Hamilton reflects on how he talked about achieving a podium finish in every race this season and failed miserably. As such, the seven-time champion now refuses to say the same thing and aims to keep his head in the game and focus on results. The 40-year-old insisted that he would keep quiet and focus on doing a better job in the main race on Sunday.

Ah man, every race I’ve been saying I can’t wait to get that first podium. So I’m NOT going to say that today. I’m just going to stay quiet and try to do a better job tomorrow.

Lewis Hamilton reveals ‘positive’ over P4 start in Austria

Lewis Hamilton’s best start in terms of qualifying position comes in Austria, as he hasn’t started P4 or above this season with Ferrari. As such, the 40-year-old now has great hopes of achieving his career best finish at Ferrari. After qualifying in the second row, Hamilton pinpointed the ‘positive’ to take from the Austrian weekend, even if he doesn’t achieve a coveted podium finish.

Lewis Hamilton boldly noted that he was on for a front-row position in qualifying, but not pole position. Still, qualifying in P4 was a positive that he would gladly take, as it is his best start so far. The 40-year-old hopes to take in learnings from his results in Austria and learn from this point forward. Hamilton asserted that he is having issues regarding the locking of rear tires, which he needed to work on before the main event.

I hope so. I mean, I was on for a front row, not pole, but a second. But that’s a positive. I’ll take that and I’ll try and learn from that. I’ve been having some locking of the rears that I need to figure out, but I’ll find out.

Ferrari will also have to work hard on their pace and ensure that Lewis Hamilton has the best chance to keep up with positive results. Hamilton has given it his all and now expects the Italian constructor to do the same. The Austrian GP could be a great benchmark for the 40-year-old as he hopes to recover from the massive performance slump in his debut year at Maranello.
