Jacques Villeneuve claims Lewis Hamilton no longer has the ‘anger’ behind the wheel like before

Lewis Hamilton is infamous for his daring racing style in the past. However, Mercedes’ struggles in the 2024 season have witnessed a decline in his performance. Multiple people believe that the 39-year-old is past his prime amidst such a disappointing performance. Jacques Villeneuve reckoned that the seven-time world champion was no longer the same in racing style as before.

And it doesn’t seem that Lewis has his anger behind the wheel that he’s had in the past and hopefully he gets it back at Ferrari.
Jacques Villeneuve told Sky Sports.

Apart from this, Villeneuve mentioned that the new environment at Ferrari could enable the Briton to start performing like before. The Canadian also berated Mercedes’ recent form and compared it to McLaren’s newfound upgrading performance. The 52-year-old added that Brackley was doing the opposite of Woking, especially with Hamilton and underdelivering performances.

He needs that new environment to get excited again. But Mercedes is doing the opposite of McLaren, where McLaren always say they won’t be good and they go beyond expectation, Mercedes does the opposite. Every time they come to a track, ‘Oh, this is better’ and it doesn’t show.
Jacques Villeneuve noted.

However, Lewis Hamilton will try his best to move ahead in the pecking order to score much better results. The 39-year-old was facing some problems in his chassis after the qualifying session. Hence, Hamilton will have to push extra hard to help Brackley take some control over the lead to Aston Martin in the constructors’ championship.
