The drivers in Formula 1 have a complicated relationship with their teammates. Multiple teammates have the same mindset regarding driving in the pinnacle of motorsport. Hence, sometimes this causes a lot of trouble in their friendship off-grid. One such pairing was between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. Both the Silver Arrows showcased one of the most fierce companionship on the grid. However, Rosberg has labeled the 39-year-old among the greats in F1.

Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton have been racing together since the former was just 13 years old. he 38-year-old labeled the seven-time world champion as the ‘Greatest of all time’ due to his performances. Additionally, the German-Finnish driver recalled that the two were ‘best friends’ back then during junior karting. Both the drivers often performed at a similar level and finished behind or ahead of one other as pointed out by Rosberg.

Now, he's the Greatest of all time [Lewis Hamilton], and I've been racing against him since I was 13 years old. So I first raced against him when I was a child, 13-year-old and new teammates. And at the time we were best friends and rivals, always finishing first and second.
Nico Rosberg said on the Technical University of Munich Speaker series.

Apart from this, the 38-year-old joked that Hamilton usually finished ahead of him in junior karting. Regardless, Rosberg highlighted that in junior karting, the natural ability was the most important. Hence, as the Briton had ‘a half’ percentage more of the natural ability, he turned out to be superior. However, racing in Formula 1 depended more on the ability to work as a team driver.

Unfortunately, he was always first me always second. But he's just an incredible talent really and when it comes to go-kart it's really the natural ability that counts more than anything and he would probably have that half percent more ability. Fortunately, in F1 it's your ability to be a team player.
Nico Rosberg added.

Jacques Villeneuve compared Lewis Hamilton to Sebastian Vettel

Much like Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel enjoyed an era of dominating the field in Formula 1. Vettel was in his prime during the 2010-2014 season. However, after this, Daniel Ricciardo joined Red Bull and made the four-time world champion look bad. Hence, Jacques Villeneuve recalled this moment and compared it to when George Russell joined the Silver Arrows.

Villeneuve reckoned that Russell was the better driver the moment he joined Mercedes. After winning so much, Hamilton’s performance looked sour as Russell outperformed him in the first season itself. Hence, this was very similar to Red Bull before Mercedes’ dominance and became the reason for Vettel’s downfall.

George has been the better driver since the moment he joined Mercedes, He has won so much and when you don't win, it can be boring and frustrating. The same thing happened when Daniel Ricciardo came to sit alongside Sebastian Vettel at Red Bull. Ricciardo looked great that year. Vettel was on par, suddenly didn't win and was trying to reinvent himself.

The current state of Mercedes is very difficult for the former world champion. Hamilton had great hopes of ending the ultimate season with Brackley on a high. However, the team’s degrading performance has more or less disabled this possibility for the driver. Hence, the rest of the season will be witnessing the German carmaker’s attempt at improving the chassis.
