Lewis Hamilton is a Formula 1 icon. The seven-time world champion turned 39 on January 7 this year. Hamilton has certainly come a long way in his career. Recently a video resurfaced of the Mercedes driver competing in an RC car race at the age of 7.

A British TV show named ‘Blue Peter’ covered an RC race in 1992. The main story was of course the 7-year-old Lewis Hamilton. The show’s presenter introduced the audience to the world of RC cars and Hamilton. The young Briton reveals that he has been racing these remote-controlled cars for a year. Lewis Hamilton admitted that it was not easy to compete yet he was eager to make a mark.

The 7-year-old informed the viewers about the controls of the car, from the brakes and the steering. Subsequently, the host competes in a race with the drivers including Hamilton. The camera captures a focused Lewis Hamilton as he controls his car to victory. Certainly, a delightful race that perhaps hinted at what was to come. The host was thrilled with Hamilton’s performance and claimed that F1 champion Nigel Mansell should be worried by the 7-year-old.

Lewis Hamilton showcased his impressive talent since his junior days

The seven-time world champion has established himself as an all-time F1 great. However, the Briton had showcased his brilliance right from his junior days. Lewis Hamilton was one of the quickest drivers in karting and managed to achieve significant success. Ultimately, this paved the way for the young driver to enter single-seater racing series.

Lewis Hamilton managed to get the support of McLaren for his junior career. This allowed the Briton to compete without any problems with financing. The 39-year-old won multiple junior categories including GP2 and Formula 3 Euro. As such, it was clear that Hamilton would go on to make a make in Formula 1.

The British driver has achieved historic success at the pinnacle of motorsport. Hamilton is statistically the most successful driver in the sport’s history. However, the seven-time world champion is hungry for more and would be looking to win his long-awaited eighth world title.
