McLaren CEO Zak Brown aimed a subtle dig at Red Bull and Sergio Perez amidst the latter’s struggling form in Formula 1 this campaign. Perez has only amassed 24 points in the last seven Grand Prix events.
Red Bull announced their decision to continue Sergio Perez‘s stay with the team earlier this week. The Milton-Keynes-based outfit has offered Perez a chance until the end of the year, despite his lackluster performances.
Zak Brown hence proclaimed the challenges faced by Red Bull in light of the major differences in their two driver’s performances this season. Brown, however, also took the time to back Perez to get back to winning ways despite facing several issues in the RB20.
They've kind of found themselves in this situation where they've got one driver leading the championship, and now the other I think seventh in the championship. Great racing drivers, won races. So we all know he's (Perez) very capable of winning at any point, but he seems to be in a bit of an issue at the moment. I don't know all that's going on there, but it's for them to sort out. I'm happy, I don't have driver challenges.Zak Brown told SkySports F1
The Mexican now finds himself in desperation to perform and deliver results for the remainder of the season. He will target working hard and resolving his issues with his RB20 in order to hit the ground running from Zandvoort onwards.
Ex-F1 driver claims Max Verstappen is ‘losing respect’ for Red Bull
Former British racer Johnny Herbert thinks that Red Bull driver Max Verstappen might leave the team soon. According to Herbert, Verstappen appears to have a fallout with the Milton-Keynes outfit in light of the recent performance struggles.
Max sounds like a driver who is starting to lose respect for Red Bull. He is making a few mistakes. The car is not performing like it was. His frustrations come out for the world to hear. Herbert talked of Red Bull’s decline this season, mentioning their dominance in 2023. The Briton further said that Verstappen has been blamed relatively less for making mistakes compared to his team, which has been incompetent on several occasions.
Despite their shortfalls, Max Verstappen leads the championship this season as well for Red Bull. But the three-time world champion’s frustration has been far more vocal over the past few races, which will be a concern for the Milton-Keynes outfit.
