Zak Brown had continued to actively comment on all the happenings in and around Red Bull. The McLaren CEO gave a lot of backlash on Red Bull’s cost cap breach in the 2021 season. Additionally, Brown shared his thoughts on the entire Christian Horner investigation saga as well. However, the 52-year-old recalled the 2021 incident and claimed that the Red Bull boss was yet to apologize for it.

The McLaren CEO didn’t hesitate to accept the fact that he had more problems with Christian Horner than anyone else. Zak Brown recalled that he had known Horner for the past 25-30 years and got along well. However, the Englishman claimed that he believed in transparency and thought that mistakes should be admitted.

I have known Christian for about 25, 30 years. We competed against each other and got along well. I believe in transparency. I think the mistake should be admitted when something is wrong.

Brown recalled the entire cost cap breach fiasco and claimed that he never heard a formal apology from Horner or the team. Red Bull tried to make excuses on the case and tried to save face from the entire matter. The McLaren CEO added that Horner did not take responsibility for the blunder and kept making excuses.

As for the budget cap, I have never heard a ‘ We were wrong ’. What I have heard are excuses without taking any responsibility.

Zak Brown claims Red Bull’s cost cap breach ‘affected the integrity’ of Formula 1

Red Bull’s cost cap breach was dealt with seriously by FIA which punished the former as well. However, Zak Brown wasn’t satisfied with this punishment on the matter. Brown reckoned that such cases affected the integrity of Formula 1. Additionally, the 52-year-old reiterated that this case wasn’t something personal for him against Christian Horner.

When someone violates the cost cap and doesn't seem to take it seriously, this affects the integrity and heart of the sport. It's not a personal matter for me, but it's about protecting our sport.
Zak Brown noted.

The sport will continue to move ahead and attempt to work vigorously on fixing such issues. Apart from this, Christian Horner and Zak Brown would have to work on their relationships. Formula 1 is continuing to witness competition of the highest order and such scenarios make the sport all the more exciting.
