Yamaha driver Fabio Quartararo, after the end of last season, had spoken out about how he feels that the Ducati has a much faster and better bike than his Yamaha. Fabio Quartaro still somehow managed to clinch the MotoGP World Title in 2021, and this season, after seven races he is at the top of the championship. The only negative side is that he has managed to win only one Grand Prix, the Portuguese GP.

It is quite evident that the Yamaha M1 lacks power, so much so that ‘El Diablo’ had commented that it is impossible to overtake if he starts from the back of the grid, or if he makes any errors at the start.

All of this has put Yamaha under pressure because the French rider’s contract ends at the end of the season. And with a lack of development, the World Champion might try to ply his trade elsewhere. Yamaha has made it clear that they want to continue with Quartararo, however on the part of the rider, it seems a bit cloudy still.

Fabio Quartararo’s manager comments that it will take some time for the rider to decide about his future

Eric Mahe, the manager of Fabio Quartararo, commented while talking to Canal+, “We are disappointed with this winter. We are taking more interest than usual in the developments that Yamaha is planning for next season. Both in terms of the engine and everything else. We are looking for guarantees. It is a process that takes some time.

Fabio’s will was to renew with Yamaha, but Suzuki’s retirement doesn’t change anything for us. Fabio is the reigning world champion and therefore everyone wants himclaimed Mahe.

He is quite right when he says that Quartararo is hot property when it comes to teams wanting him, after all, who wouldn’t want to have a rider of his caliber and experience in their teams.

Yamaha has a lot to lose if they don’t step up their game. It has been made very clear by Eric Mahe’s comments that if Yamaha cannot manage to impress Quartararo with the scheduled upgrades planned for 2023, it will be difficult for them to retain the rider.
