The Pro Football Hall of Fame has been taking heat for seemingly stopping former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick from becoming a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

The outrage from players, both current and former, coaches, members of the media, and fans has made the Hall of Fame look bad in everyone’s eyes.

With calls for the 11 voters to be revealed, the hosts of Seattle Sports’ Brock & Salk had Tom Brady over to speak about Super Bowl LX. During that conversation, they asked Belichick’s former QB about the Hall of Fame gaffe.

I don’t understand it… If he’s not a first-ballot Hall of Famer, there’s really no coach that should ever be a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

Tom Brady replied

The seven-time Super Bowl-winning QB reiterated that he knows Bill Belichick will be in the Hall of Fame soon, and many will be in attendance to celebrate the occasion.

Brady continuously talked about how his former head coach was the obvious candidate to wear a gold jacket on his first nomination. Otherwise, it does not make sense for any other coach to do so.

On the subject of voters who did not believe the current UNC head coach deserves a first-ballot entry, the father of three cited that the Hall of Fame should incorporate the system that the Oscars implement when selecting voters.

That is, a panel will be constructed to first determine if the voters are worthy of understanding the importance of the Hall of Fame, and what attributes one should look for when deciding who should get in.

But when it comes to a certain President of the United States, Donald Trump, who is known for not having any filter, he took shots at the NFL.

It is the same mindset that gave pro football the new and unwatchable “Sissy” Kickoff Rule that made it possible for Bill Belichick to not be elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Both are ridiculous and should be overturned!

It seems the 47th President believes that the same thought process that runs in the NFL to bring about the current kickoff rule, which he has criticized many times in the past, is the reason for Bill Belichick not getting an entry into the Hall of Fame on his first attempt.

He seems to believe that this new thought wave is undermining the game and bringing about two ridiculous decisions in recent times. However, it is unlikely that the Pro Football Hall of Fame would listen to Trump’s demands for a decision about someone who is well known to him.

Hall of Fame to take action against voters after Bill Belichick’s gaffe

As the heat continues to build against the Pro Football Hall of Fame and its true desire to immortalize those who have been worthy, the organization decided to come out with a statement.

The statement reiterated that it respects the Selection Committee members’ decision if they had abided by their process bylaws. However, if they find that some used past incidents to decide, which is against their process, they will remove those voters from their panel.

At most, this could be a way to quell some of the backlash they have faced, as there are increasing calls for fans and players to boycott the event this year.

Whatever they do, there is no turning back from the fact that 11 of their voters denied the 73-year-old Bill Belichick, a head coach with arguably the best resume in all of football, from getting his gold jacket on his first attempt.
