Conor McGregor cannot prevent himself from making headlines anywhere he goes. The Irish fighter hasn’t stepped into the octagon in more than three years, and is busy making random appearances. Recently, the former UFC double champion was at a BYU college basketball game in Utah, which caught everyone off-guard.
During his visit, the Irishman sat in the courtside seats and made the most out of it. Conor McGregor led the student section in awfully loud “BYU” chants to get the fanbase fired up. While fans might say that McGregor might not have fully grasped the sport, his infectious energy seemed to have worked.
The BYU team secured a victory over the Baylor Bears in overtime, with many believing Conor McGregor’s chant played a crucial role. The ‘Notorious’ has always been famous for energizing crowds, consistently demonstrating his promotional skills throughout his highly successful UFC career. Now, he is doing the same to promote the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), where he holds partial ownership.

Last weekend, he was at BKFC’s KnuckleMania 5 event, and made sure to hype the crowd as well as fans ahead of the event. After the fight, he also went face to face against winner Jeremy Stephens which went viral on the internet. All of this has started speculation about his potential BKFC debut despite having a UFC contract.
Conor McGregor’s impact on BKFC’s rise
Conor McGregor is one of the richest combat sports athletes of all time. Other than his multi-million dollar fight purses, the Irishman has successfully built a business empire for himself. Proper Twelve and BKFC are some of his biggest investments to date.

However, unlike other bosses, McGregor is different and maintains a wild energy with him while promoting. Sometimes, it may cause trouble for some business partners, but BKFC founder Dave Feldman doesn’t think it bothers him. In a recent interview, he shared the main reason behind collaborating with the Irish superstar.
We didn’t bring him in to sit in the background. We brought him in to get in the middle of the fighters. We brought him in to talk. We brought him in to create viral moments, and that’s what he does. I don’t need to be the center of attention. Let him do that because he does a lot better job than I do.

McGregor has often talked about potentially making a BKFC debut due to his eagerness to participate in a bare-knuckle clash. If done correctly, his participation will do wonders for the success of this promotion. However, his contract with UFC is the main hindrance, and it would be interesting to see how they tackle it.
