This week’s NXT witnessed the return of former WWE superstar Fandango. In a shocking fashion, the 41-year-old star came back to the brand to remind the fans about his glory. He was involved in an intense promo battle with Lexis King over the NXT Heritage Cup. Following his appearance, the former NXT Tag Team Champion sent a message to the WWE Universe.

Taking to X, Fandango encouraged his fans to “get weird,” a phrase popularized by his TNA character JDC. This has sparked speculation that it may signal more appearances for him in the developmental territory moving forward. Additionally, Dango has challenged King for the NXT Heritage Cup, which is now a clear target for him on NXT.

The former WWE star was a popular figure during his time in the company. He is among the few wrestlers who made their debut at WrestleMania. While Fandango had a long relationship with the company, his most notable run was with Tyler Breeze in the tag team Breezango. However, despite his talent and popularity, he never received a main event push in the company.

On June 25, 2021, Fandango was released by WWE along with his partner Breeze. Since then, he has been active in the independent circuit. In 2022, he signed a contract with Impact Wrestling, now known as TNA, where he has been performing under the character JDC.

Fandango, also known as JDC, had one goal in returning to NXT, and that was to become a champion. He took advantage of WWE and TNA’s partnership to step through the forbidden door and challenge Lexis King. Not only was he welcomed with open arms, but NXT Senior Vice President Shawn Michaels also made the match official for next week’s show.
