Undisputed light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev took on Dmitry Bivol tonight in a 12-round headliner on a stacked DAZN PPV card in Riyadh. Former WBA (Super) and IBO light heavyweight hotshot Bivol had a lot riding on the line after their first meet. Beterbiev shot off the title rematch, titled The Last Crescendo headhunting the rival.

Artur Beterbiev and his power is a widely known thing. The Russian-Canadian LHW king wasn’t throwing enough to win the frame, but it left its mark. Dmitry Bivol answered in some fast counters, adjusting; R2 onward, he even replied in kind. The challenger caught him with a fast right that snapped Beterbiev’s head back!

A fast Dmitry Bivol swiped around the stretch, eclipsing whatever the champ could do. He caught Beterbiev with another fateful right before the round ended and Beterbiev looked frustrated. Beterbiev’s forehead looked dented from the shots. He landed a couple of big ones in range, late. From the clinch, Beterbiev doused two big rights to the head of Bivol. It was easy pickings and an easy 3-0.

The unified three-belt light heavyweight champion got to the “undisputed” moniker sharply and he wasn’t letting go that easy this time. Prone to quirky explosiveness on and off the ring, R4 onwards he opened up. R5 – Artur Beterbiev unloaded a barrage on Bivol. In the final 10 seconds of R6, he again rained down a pocket of hits.

However, Dmitry Bivol, who’s now 24-1 with 12 KOs, closed it out with a 12-round majority decision on digits of 114-114, 116-112, and 115-113. With him taking the cake, many have quipped at ex-wife Ekaterina Bivol. The ex-wife accused him of domestic abuse, and had celebrated his loss last time.

Fight fans react to Dmitry Bivol avenging loss to Artur Beterbiev, launch volley of mickeys at ex-wife

After Oleksandr Usyk, Beterbiev snagged the “undisputed” moniker but rather controversially. Hence, an all-important rematch was upon the boxing clique tonight in the form of “The Last Crescendo” PPV (February. 22, 2025) inside Kingdom Arena.

Dmitry Bivol gave one too many good rounds, catching up and answering in surefire shots. Coming forward, he really pressured the undisputed champ in Rounds 10 and 11. It even got big cheers from Bivol’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, always vying for a rematch with current WBC and WBO super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez.

However, Bivol graded the frenetic plot Artur Beterbiev tougher than an Alvarez test the first time around, and for good reason. “Silent Assassin” would snap back into conditioning and keep chasing around, nailing him with shots. It’s an output he should have had R9 onwards.

While others have quipped that his ex-wife might be having a bad day now. Ekaterina’s excitement was through the roof after all after the first loss, alleging financial misconduct and neglect. A volley of attacks is on her. All in all, it’s a grand affair for Bivol and a complete win-win. The fans were also open to a trilogy fight down the line.
