The WWE Draft is an exciting time for young, up-and-coming superstars. The promotion often calls up NXT stars on the flagship shows, allowing them to showcase their talent on a bigger stage. Unfortunately, a main roster call-up does not end well for everybody.
The WWE X account announced Odyssey Jones was being kept on his original brand during the WWE Draft, drafting him to Monday Night Raw. Unlike other superstars like CM Punk, Jones was not a televised Draft pick. Rather, he was selected by the red brand after the show went off the air.
After achieving much success in NXT, the former football player was drafted to Raw in the 2023 WWE Draft. However, he has not participated in a single match since his call-up. While he occasionally works the house show circuits, the former NXT star has not made a single televised appearance since joining the main roster.
After the draft last year, the WWE released several promotional packages for the Future Favorite, hyping up his debut on the main roster. Unfortunately, the young star never made it to TV. There were also several reports that he was being considered for The Pride faction alongside Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits. However, that plan never came to fruition.
Fans react hilariously to Odyssey Jones being drafted to Raw despite not having made a single televised appearance
The wrestling world rolled on the floor laughing after the red brand retained Odyssey Jones despite him receiving zero screen time over the past year. Several netizens commented that the 29-year-old would continue to sit in catering until the next Draft.
Meanwhile, many joked about how the WWE Superstar had completed his story and that his boyhood dream had come true. Some even trolled him for WWE, not bothering enough to spell his name correctly in their promotional draft graphic.
Other fans expressed their frustration at this pick. They pointed out that the WWE shouldn’t draft superstars when they don’t have any plans for them on the main roster. If he hadn’t been drafted last year, Jones could have continued his run on NXT. Currently, the superstar finds himself underutilized, performing neither here nor there.
