WWE is stacking up its WrestleMania weekend in Las Vegas. The company announced via X in a clip featuring WWE CCO Triple H, color commentator Wade Barrett, and The Miz that The Roast of WrestleMania is coming. It’ll be hosted by controversial comedian Tony Hinchcliffe. WrestleVotes had reported on it a few days ago.

The said event will be staged behind closed doors at the state-of-the-art BleauLive Theater on April 20 at 10pm PT. For those wondering, it wouldn’t be televised, a WWE-released press note added. Hinchcliffe will be joined by other comics and entertainers, let alone some WWE Superstars, including Sami Zayn, The Miz, Braun Strowman, HOF’er Paul Heyman, and more.

The aforementioned comedian doesn’t have a great appeal politically, especially to Democratic votaries. Tony’s inflammatory remarks at an MSG-hosted Donald Trump rally in October 2024 do still bother people. He called Puerto Rico a floating island of garbage and even cracked jokes that offended several ethnic groups.

Later, senior advisor to the Trump campaign, Danielle Alvarez, released a statement that Hinchcliffe’s comments don’t represent the views of the 47th POTUS. At the same rally in NYC, pro-Trump supporter and retired wrestler Hulk Hogan also spewed political venom.

But before that, The Immortal One had an embarrassing on-stage moment where he struggled to rip off his clothing. A clip of it went viral on social media, giving netizens enough laughs for the day. Nonetheless, Trump went on to sweep the Presidential Elections a week later.

Fans aren’t over the moon with Tony Hinchcliffe-hosted Roast of WrestleMania

No matter how the actual Roast of WrestleMania turns out, the fans have seemingly passed on their judgment. The following reactions on social media don’t bode well. It appears that most of them are piqued by the decision of having Tony Hinchcliffe of all people be the one to roast WrestleMania.

One user also claimed that WWE is turning MAGA. Another fan said that if Tony knows a thing or two about wrestling, the easiest entities to roast would be Hulk Hogan, The Rock, and CM Punk. One user alluded to Latinos and Puerto Ricans within WWE on cusp of getting offended by Hinchcliffe’s racist punchlines.

Zelina Vega, a Puerto Rican WWE wrestler, not beating up Hinchcliffe would be a missed opportunity on WWE’s part, another fan posted. The company recently invited another comedian, Andrew Schulz, on Raw last week at MSG. He was featured in a segment where Logan Paul berated him and even got physical.

AJ Styles came out to save Schulz eventually. The latter’s airtime on Raw was criticized on social media with allegations of racism in his comedy as well. It’d be interesting to see if WWE ends up regretting the decision to have Tony on hand. Some fear that he may make a mockery of wrestling jargon.

What matches have been announced for WrestleMania 41?

There are still about five weeks to go until WrestleMania 41. The match card is slowly coming to fruition. Speaking of the world title matches on the men’s side, the lines are drawn. Gunther will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against his polar opposite in Jey Uso.

Also, the once-beloved face of WWE, John Cena, will try to become a 17-time world champion, but Cody Rhodes is standing in his way. As for women, IYO SKY is expected to risk her women’s world title against Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley in a triple threat bout.

Tiffany Stratton‘s make-or-break WrestleMania clash against Charlotte Flair will redefine athleticism. The Queen is eyeing the gold for a record-breaking fifteenth time. Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and CM Punk are on a collision course as well. More matches will be made official in the weeks to come.
