Carlos Alcaraz and his coach of seven years, Juan Carlos Ferrero, have split, leading to various theories about the reason behind the breakup. As per one such theories, Alcaraz’s agent, Albert Molina, is to be blamed for the separation.

As per Marca, the reason behind the split is failed contract negotiations. Ferrero reportedly was given just 48 hours to accept or reject the new contract, and some of the clauses mentioned there were unacceptable to Ferrero. There were also salary reductions, but that was not the major issue.

Also, several tennis insiders and those who are close to the Alcaraz team are claiming that the 22-year-old is very protective of his coaches and did not want Ferrero to leave his team; that decision to end the collaboration was not his but his inner circle’s.

Rafael Nadal‘s uncle and former coach Toni Nadal found the split not “logical” because this happened after Alcaraz’s career’s best season. This year, the six-time Grand Slam champion took home eight trophies from 11 finals, including the French Open and the US Open, which he won by defeating arch-rival Jannik Sinner.

Since agents usually handle contract negotiations, some think Albert Molina has played a huge role behind the Carlos AlcarazJuan Carlos Ferrero separation. That’s why fans think Alcaraz shouldn’t be blamed for parting ways with the 2003 French Open champion.

Ferrero called time on his career in 2012, and in 2018, he joined Alcaraz’s team. Under the former World No.1, Alcaraz reached the top of the rankings table and won all 24 tour-level singles titles, including the six Grand Slam trophies. Alcaraz also reached the final of the ATP Finals this year but failed to beat Jannik Sinner.

Aleksandar Kovacevic says Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, and Jannik Sinner have the aura in the locker room

Former player Aleksandar Kovacevic recently appeared on The Changeover Podcast, where he was asked about the tennis rivalries. He said there are only three players who have an “aura” in the locker room currently, and they are: Novak Djokovic, Sinner, and Alcaraz.

In terms of locker room aura, Novak’s still got it because of the greatest of all time thing. Sinner and Alcaraz have a little bit of that where it’s like, oh (expletive) when they walk in the room, otherwise no one really cares, man. We’re just like clocking into a job, and it’s the same guys like every week.

Sinner and Alcaraz won the last eight Grand Slam titles, while Djokovic was the last man other than them to win a Major (at the 2023 US Open). This year, Sinner played every Grand Slam final, winning at the Australian Open and Wimbledon. The four-time Grand Slam champion lifted six titles from 10 finals this year.

Sure there might be a new guy on the scene that like just came up and a lot of times those are the guys that are trying to look like ‘Oh, I’m the man’ and it’s like settle down, you know what I mean like, you don’t even know what you’re in for, you’re going to be with us for the next two, three years. There’s a lot of good, talented players, but trying to act tough and stuff, it’s like a lot of energy for nothing really.

Aleksandar Kovacevic added

Djokovic clinched just two ATP 250 titles this year. He won the Geneva Open and the Hellenic Championship by defeating Hubert Hurkacz and Lorenzo Musetti, respectively. The 38-year-old also reached the final of the Miami Open, but failed to go past Jakub Mensik.
